Well February is here and Old man Winter is finally letting go of some of his icy grip. In just a few short months the Cabin will be reawakened and summer will be here before you know it. We are almost half way booked for the prime summer months so it would be a good idea to get your reservations in now.
The old boat has been sold and we now have TWO 24' boat slips for your use this year! So bring those runabouts and cruisers and enjoy all Flathead lake has to offer!
Wow, its hard to believe that summer is almost gone. We have had amazing guests so far this year and we hope everyone has had a great time at the lake!
In fact the cabin has been so popular, Lori and I have not yet had the chance to go out and stay. But that's OK, because we are very happy to share and have been very busy ourselves this summer.
We have a few weeks left open in September before we switch it over for our winter tenants, there is not many things better than Flathead Lake in the fall! Cheers Ahren
Well, Ahren is back at work, and he is darn glad to be there. After five back-breaking days at the cabin, it was nice to return to my desk job! :-) Now it's Lori's turn to kick it into overdrive. She is on her own this week and is finishing all the final touches to get the cabin ready for summer 2014's rental season. New pictures of the final digs will be coming next week! In the meantime below is a picture of Ahren just before beer-thirty!
Ahren was a whopped puppy tearing out rotten deck boards.
Workedy keester off today. Finished the cable railing for the stairs from the parking area to The cabin. Patched a few woodpecker holes on the garage. Hauled three loads to the dump and mowed the yard. All in all it was a good day. Still a lot to do but it's good.
Lake is coming up about three inches a day and I think I got sunburned because it was like 78 degrees out today.
But my reward is sweet..,
T-Bone Steak and Red potatoes on the BBQ
Ahhhh... Beer, Steak and Potatoes... Does it get much better? I think not!
Last weekend Lori and I worked very hard to finish the kitchen back splash and I must say it looks amazing!
New slate tile backsplash
We couldn't be happier with how things are turning out. The floors are amazing! everybody who has seen it has been floored (pun intended) by the flooring and kitchen. Lori and I will be back out Memorial day weekend to finish the whole thing and we will take new pictures and post them as soon as its done!
The kitchen at 95% complete
Below is how the kitchen used to look. Funny how I always seem to take pictures at 3:00 pm (notice the clock)
Work in the spring isn't so bad when you have this beautiful view!
So this last weekend Lori and I spent a few days at the cabin trying to get some work done. Overall it was very productive. We cleaned up a lot of the trash, finished off the door hardware and added cable railing to the stairs leading from the parking area to the cabin. Still a ton to do, but it is exciting also.
We will be back in three weeks and our contractor said that all the floors will be done, the granite countertops will be done and the bathroom will be done! WOW. We can't wait!
Lori and i have joked that the cabin will look so good that we will want to move back in. She might be right! ~Ahren
The new cabinets are in and they look awesome!! Notice the new floors too!!
New cable railings that Ahren installed this weekend. They look great!
Well, Lori and I drove out to the cabin for the first time since the Great Flood hit L'Nuist Malt. And all I can say is, Oh My! Below is our youngest son, London, surveying the demo work.
Our contractor had cleared out all the furnishings from the entire first floor. That included removing all the cabinets, appliances, floor coverings, everything! The whole first floor was basically taken down to the bare logs and the 2x6 floor planks.
The silver lining is we get to make a few upgrades. Like hardwood floors and granite counter tops! Very excited to see the improvements! ~Ahren
Well, it just seems like bad news comes right after the holidays. Along with those bulging credit card bills came a holiday surprise we were not happy to discover. A water pipe in the kitchen of L'Nuist Malt burst and flooded the whole first floor.
We will be working quickly and diligently with our insuracne comapny to make sure L'Nuist Malt is better than new for everyone's upcoming trips! -Ahren
